Three Views, One Temple

The Potkovil from every angle

Walk towards the gopuram at dawn, rise above the temple as the sun sets, or stand beneath the sculpted spire — every view tells the same story.

ஓம் சக்தி

For decades the Arasarpathi Kannagi Amman Potkovil has been the spiritual heart of Omanthai and many neighbouring villages. Today it is more than a place of worship — it is a school, a kitchen, a refuge for those in need, and a workshop where the traditions of our community are kept alive.

Under the guidance of the Arangkavalar Sabai (Board of Trustees), every rupee that enters the temple is accounted for, reserved exclusively for the temple's major works, and never directed to any individual.

What We Do

Ongoing works at the temple

From major construction to weekly classes and welfare for the poor — here is what your devotion and support are building.

120-foot Multipurpose Mandapam

A grand 120-foot public mandapam is currently under construction to serve devotees, festivals and community gatherings.

37-foot Chariot Pedestal

A magnificent 37-foot Theer Muttri — the tallest chariot pedestal of any temple in the Vavuniya District — has been completed after more than two years of work.

Aranerin Vakuppukal

Over 80 children attend free weekly Dharma (Hindu religious) classes hosted at the temple.

Fine Arts Academy

Traditional arts classes — music, dance and devotional crafts — are being established in the newly built Nunkalai Kalluri hall.

Annadana Mandapam

A dedicated free-meals hall feeds devotees and visitors during festivals and special pujas.

Welfare & Scholarships

A significant share of temple income supports school and university education for poor families in surrounding villages, plus essential medical aid.
