The Theer Muttri is the sacred pedestal on which the temple chariot rests between processions. For more than two years, devotees, masons and engineers have laboured to complete a 37-foot tall structure — the tallest of any temple in the Vavuniya District.
This milestone is a tribute to the families of Omanthai and the wider Vavuniya region who supported the work through small monthly contributions, manual labour and prayer.
The completed Theer Muttri will host the chariot at the centre of the annual Theer Thiruvizha each July, and stand as a symbol of the community's renewed devotion to Sri Kannagi Amman.
