The Arangkavalar Sabai has long held that a temple's duty does not end at the sanctum. Each year a defined share of the temple's income — distinct from construction funds — is reserved exclusively for welfare work in the surrounding villages.
This includes school and university scholarships for children from poor families, support for textbooks and uniforms, and emergency medical aid for those facing critical illness.
The Annadana Mandapam — a dedicated free-meals hall on the temple grounds — feeds devotees and visitors during all major festivals and special pujas, with no charge and no distinction of background.
